This next instalment in the Spring Revisited series through Ace Recs pulls two deep cuts from Fatback Band's 1978 LP Fired Up N Kickin and hands them to two remixers with a close eye on soul-funk lineage. On the A, Joaquin Claussell turns in a Sacred Rhythm version of 'Snake', reframing its rubbery groove with extended percussion and devotional sweep. Flip it for Kon's Cool Out Remix of 'Chillin' Out', originally a digital-only drop earlier this year and now deservedly on wax, dialling up the track's warmth and swing without losing its easy-loping charm. Pressed on 12" and dressed in era-faithful design, this release keeps the Spring rework series on strong footing.
