Die Aussage, Band XY sei endlich wieder zurück in Bestform, mit ordentlich Druck auf dem Kessel, einem Songkracher nach dem Nächsten, ist schnell gemacht, bewahrheitet sich aber leider nicht immer. Bei FIREWIND, der Band um Gitarren-Ass Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne Band), ist aber das Gegenteil der Fall, denn mit dem 2015 fest eingestiegenen neuen Sänger Henning Basse (ex-Metalium, Sons Of Seasons) präsentieren die Griechen 2017 treibenden, knackig-harten melodischen Power Metal in Reinkultur. 'Immortals' ist darüber hinaus nicht nur das erste Konzeptalbum in der Bandgeschichte über die Schlachten zwischen Griechen und Persern 480 BC, sondern auch das erste FIREWIND-Opus, das Gus G. mit einem Ko-Produzenten - Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69) schrieb, mixte und masterte. Das Resultat ist ein vor kraftvollen Metal-Hymnen und epischer Atmosphäre strotzendes Album, das von 'Hands Of Time' über 'Ode To Lenidas', 'Back On The Throne', 'Live And Die By The Sword' hin zu 'Warriors And Saints' massig Hitfutter bietet. Das Artwork stammt von Gustavo Sazes und schließt diese starke Scheibe perfekt ab. Das limitierte CD Mediabook erscheint inklusive Bonustrack und 3 Stickern, die LP natürlich im 180 Gramm Vinyl mit der CD und einem Poster als Extra.
