Sometimes I include albums given to me or purchased from friends or relatives. I do not go to swap meets, garage sales, or thrift stores. I do go to record conventions as time permits. You will be bidding for very rare, original issue and quality albums. Sometime I will list rare re-issues or later pressings. They will be stated as (re) in the listing. I use Goldmine Standard Catalog as a grading guideline and tend to be conservative in my approach.

All records are played through prior to listing for accurate grading.
GRADING GUIDELINES!(NM or NM-) NM records are shiny with no visible defects such as writing, stickers or needle marks on the labels. The album cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any signs of human handling. It also will have no ring wear.
(VG+) or (Excellent) May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK. The cover might be marred by a cutout marking, small hole punch, a cut in the spine or a promotional stamp and even a tiny bit of ring wear.
(VG) Have more obvious flaws such as lack of gloss, groove wear, light scratches and needle marks. When played there will be surface noise that will not overpower the music overall. Noise in the passages, between songs is common. The cover may have minor seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.
(VG-) Is just a compounding of the VG category. Many obvious flaws but if the record is rare, may very well be worthwhile. I usually do not list records lower than the above grades.
Remember, when you are bidding, most of these records are usually 50+ years old and have been out of print for a very long time. When you consider that, damage, loss, and normal use or wear has reduced the market to the point that few of these wonderful treasures are even available today.

FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: As you appreciate, some records are difficult to let go and this is one of them. In my personal collection since I purchased it new in the winter of 1957 and rarely played, you are bidding for a beautiful, stunning and mega rare 1957 original first pressing of The Fabulous Cadillacs, recorded on the Jubilee Label JGM-1045 in Superlaphonic Hi-Fi. This is the mega rare Blue Label with Silver Print, valued for $400 NM on the Goldmine Price Guide and this is a beauty! The group included Earl Carroll, Robert Phillips, Laverne Drake and Gus Willingham.
Stored in my bedroom for years, the 54 year old album cover is in beautiful condition. There are no seam splits, discoloration, ring wear, tape, tears, writing, only a few small corner scuffs and a tiny wrinkle in the upper left corner. The spine is stunning and easy to read. The liner notes in back are clean, informative with barely a hint of discoloration. The black, shiny record is beautiful and the blue labels are very clean, showing only some light spindle marks spindle marks. I carefully inspected this most rare classic under a 100 watt light and there were no feelable scratches, scuffs or groove lines and few light feathery thin surface scratches/paper cuts and did not affect a near new listening experience. I played this beauty for just prior to listing and there were no skips, sticks, loud pops or hisses. Truly a near new listening experience.
The songs include; Side 1, Zoom, I Wonder Why, Sympathy, Woe Is Me, That's All I Need, Wishing Well. Side 2, Speedo, Down The Road, You Are, The Girl I Love, No Chance, Sugar Sugar. For the serious collector of R&B History, it doesn't get much better than having a Blue Label collectible of one of the greatest groups ever to perform, the Fabulous Cadillacs. Based on the Goldmine guide, the album cover is graded VG++, the quality of the listening experience NM and the record VG++. There is no reserve.
