Mega rare USA LP vinyl record by F.J. McMahon titled "Spirit Of The Golden Juice"! Original late 1960's pressing of this great lost folk rock album. F.J. McMahon may not be exactly a household name but he certainly should be. Up there with the ramblin' loner folk stylings of Fred Neil and Vince Martin, this weary ex-Vietnam vet crafted songs of his experiences and philosophies regarding war and love. The title of the album, in fact, refers to a brand of bourbon commonly drunk by McMahon and his compadres during the war. McMahon's rugged voice combined with his rustic and beautifully played guitar make him instantly endearing. His lyrical content is a rare snapshot of the young Vietnam vet returning home. A mega collectable artifact of loner weird private press (probably 100 to 200 pressed) west coast psychedelic folk.
Beautiful condition record. Side 1 is near mint condition with a couple of small scuffs. Side 2 is very good + condition, has a couple of small scuffs & a few tiny surface scratches that do not affect play. Good condition cover, in shrinkwrap (partially torn off lower right), has major wear on the lower right front cover/lower left back cover, a water stain lower right front/lower left back, 2 tiny corner bends & a major corner bend upper right, minor edgewear and minor creasing.
