Superb sounding Blues Progressive album!

From my fathers personal collection. He has accumilated more than 50,000 albums over a period of more than 45 years or more. I have his permission and help, to list some of his records using this format that is familier to his own listings.

  The audio is absolutely clear and vibrant throughout, amaizingly without any distortion or signs that this has been over played at all in my opinion, there is some light isolated static background interfearence heard only noticed during some quieter parts or inbetween some tracks but overall i would grade the audio at least excellent plus. There are no skips or jumps and I found this extreemely enjoyable throughout and no loud clicks or pops!  This is complete with the original  patented poly lined record sleeve and original, earliest Garrod & Lofthouse gate fold cover . A top copy in my opinion! 1st UK pressing very collectable and highly sought after blues prog psych lp!!

Then Play On is the third studio album by blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac, first released in September 1969. It was the first of their original albums to feature Danny Kirwan and the last with Peter Green.

 Jeremy Spencer did not feature on the album apart from "a couple of piano things" The record, appearing after the group's sudden success in the pop charts, offered a broader stylistic range than the classic blues of the group's first two albums. The title is taken from Duke Orsino's opening line, "If music be the food of love, play on," from William Shakespeare's comedy play Twelfth Night.

This was the band's first release with Warner/Reprise after being lured away from Blue Horizon and a one-off with Immediate Records. Forty years on, Fleetwood Mac remain with Warner. The album, which at its original UK release had an unusually long running time, has been released with four different song lineups. The currently-available CD compiles all songs from the two US LP versions, both of which omitted tracks from the original UK version.

The two songs deleted from the US lineup had already appeared on the US compilation English Rose. They are also not included on the CD release of the album.

The Vinyl

This is the original typical thick heavy and chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps! On initial inspection the vinyl looks absolutely stunning in fact I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface! Any marks that could possibly be seen angled to the light would be Light whyspy sleeve removal lines only,, importantly there are no deep scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops!

The Audio Quality

I have play tested this vinyl two times prior to this listing at very loud volume on a top system!,, The audio is clear and very vibrant throughout and this plays through with out any distortion! Typical bluesy, basey feel awesome seperation! There were light isolated static background noise heard in isolated quiet places only that I noticed,  but nothing too detrimental to the awesome audio quality effect in my opinion! Importantly I heard no annoying loud constant clicks or pops!  I would rate the audio at least excellent plus  in my opinion (isolated minor light static surface background noise only)!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd minor isolated static,  perhaps only  heard in an isolated quiet places (not consistent through out the audio) perhaps caused by dirt or dust build up over the years of laying dormant in my opinion!  Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have originally have been played on a 43 year old system! Also allowances must be made in that some of these early recordings were made from early tapes in the 50s! 

A constant clean is recommended before each play! ,, this would drastically reduce any static and would greatly improve the audio quality!

The Labels

These are the original 'Reprise 'Large Steamboat'' Records labels (only 1st UK press) Spidering can be seen angled to the light but Little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round and tight on the spindle. This has not been over played in my opinion. 

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Polly lined Emitex Sleeve issued with this album.  no splits or tares just general creasing with age slight staining //fading/// yellowing with age only (See photos)!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue un- laminated front and rear, gate fold cover. Printed in  England' by 'Garrod & Lofthouse' The condition, again is exceptional for a 43 year old cover. This is strong, tidy and straight without any edge splits or tares. Please note there is some rubbing storage ware noticed at the edges and at the spine edges with age. But all text is legable. This cover is still exceptional throughout! Feature large spine graded at excellent in my opinion!
