At the start of the music you can believe this is the first Dando Shaft lp because the exciting plots of guitars and mandolin but apart that there are 2 womans that alternativelly sings and Polly Bolton at the time was still not present, just some minutes later you are directlly inside the sublime and you understand that this sound it's something more than a great musical execution. The voice of Alison Williams speak directelly with your heart and no technical improvements are enough when you sing like her. Who know the Mellow Candle album printed in 1972 on the Deram label understand very well what I mean and these 2 albums are born from the same minds and from the same hearts also if thousends of miles away and some years later. Allison O' Donnell before becoming Williams has been former member of the legendary group Mellow Candle along with his husband and guitarist David Williams with her in this album, Glodagh Simonds as supplementary female vocalist, the bass player Frank Boylan and the drummer William Murray. They made one of the most beautiful album of the seventies and this album can be considered his musical prosecution also if in more folkie style, but when you hear "Mariner Blues" or the female duets of "Blackcap" along with the recorder interludes you understand that nothing has changed 6 years later also with different musicians. Also there are superbs musicians and 2 female vocals (Jo Dudding) and the same Irish ispirations and feelings that has made so many beautiful albums as Mac Murrough or Loudest Whisper , just for to name other 2 impressive irish groups. There's a special atmosphere inside this album that give some special emotions also to the more experts collectors and folk music listeners. The respect for the Irish origins that this masterpiece give, probably because pressed so far away to the green country, it's a supplementary emotions and it's the necessary difference of this album, a proper personality also if the "Mellow roots" are more than evidents. A beautiful album pressed in a very small quantity in South Africa in the 1978 and for this reason this is a very rare lp and this beautiful original copy it's offered to the folk collectors of all the world. Vinyl grade it's absolutelly EX, I don't see any mark but I have played it at least 10 times so it's used for sure but play perfectelly, sleeve can be considered a VG+ for to be very very strict but there are not serious problems if not a light general wear and a very initial ring, anyway for any supplementary details just ask me or ask more photos, no probs about.
