FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS orig private outsider 78s RARE! Shipping Info  |  S/H info:   Description FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS on MELOTONE records (1940's custom press label out of ny, NY). amazing find here: set of three 78 RPM discs from stupifying soprano, florence jenkins and two show hand-typed (test press?) labels including her legendary first recording "queen of the night aria" b/w "serenata mexicana" (vg). other two are "the musical snuff box" b/w "bell song" (strong vg) & the amazing "adele's laughing song" b/w "biassy" (vg to vg+). pianist cosme mcmoon backs the artist on each cut. considered one of the great godmothers of outsider music, jenkins once claimed she could sing a "higher 'F'" after a crash with a taxi cab (she actually sent the cab company a box of cigars) and was famously quoted as saying "some may say i can not song but none may say i did not sing". three rare and OUTRAGEOUS recordings here and you'll need to add a little extra shipping for this (heavy) parcel. see my other auctions for a very cool mix of vintage oddities, curiosities and mixed-genre LPs.
