This album establishes the bands enormous talent by serving up a brace of stirring hard rock and semi intellectualised prog. Thijs Van Leer's cool flute added a layer of melody that, under any other circumstances, the instrumental tracks might otherwise have lost. Of course, the man of the match is very much guitarist Jan Akkerman who's amazing style is about as futuristic as any other leading six stringer frm the era and here I'm thinking of contemporaries such as Jeff Beck, Ollie Halsall and Alan Holdsworth. His soloing in 'Sugar Island' needs to be heard to be believed.

A truly fantastic and hugely satisfying work - and a beautiful copy.
