FONTANA SFJL911: TUBBY HAYES QUARTET 'Mexican Green'
UK jazz rarity from 1968, this album by the much-loved English player showed off his, then, new quartet: Mike Pyne (p); Ron Mathewson (b); and Tony Levin (d). This is an UK 1st Fontana stereo pressing with grey/silver printing and logo label in a flipback sleeve. As far as I know, there was no separate mono pressing of this issue.
Side 1 'Dear Johnny B'/'Off The Wagon'/'Trenton Place'/'The Second City Steamer'
Side 2 'Blues In Orbit'/'A Dedication To Joy'/'Mexican Green'
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E+/EtoE+ (VG++/VG+toVG++) with some very light scratches/scuffs, visible under a bright 'grading' light. Side 2 appears to have one or two slightly heavier scratches. These have little affect on the playing. The cover is E (VG+), with slight surface/edge rubbing and some surface dirt. There is some creasing/slight damage around the corners, particularly to the bottom right. In the top left hand corner, and in an area towards the opposite top corner, there is some residue from the removal of sticky labels.
