Foo Fighters' seventh studio album, Wasting Light. Released on April 12, 2011, through Roswell and RCA Records, Wasting Light is widely celebrated as one of the band's finest bodies of work. Seeking a heavier, rawer, and more authentic sound, frontman Dave Grohl chose to bypass modern digital studios. Instead, the album was recorded entirely to 100% analog tape inside the garage of his home in Encino, California. The record marked a massive reunion, bringing back legendary producer Butch Vig (who engineered Nirvana's seminal Nevermind). It also permanently reinstated guitarist Pat Smear as an official band member. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and took home multiple honors at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
