Description

This is one of the most rare and desired of all Direct to Disc LP, FOR DUKE on M&K RealTime Records.  The combination of music, musicians and one of the best sounding records of all time gives it legendary status.  Start with the legendary session of Bill Berry and His All-Stars with Bill Berry on cornet, Ray Brown on bass, Frankie Capp on drums, Scott Hamilton on tenor sax, Nat Pierce on piano, Marshal Royal on alto sax and Britt Woodman on trombone.  It was recorded live direct onto the stampers, eschewing the tapes and the mixdown process, resulting in the closest thing that you’ll get to the sound of a master tape on LP.

The sound is dramatic, dynamic and stunningly real.  It is tonally balanced and timbrally rich, with great extension at each frequency extreme, a great test for your system.  Finally, because the records were recorded directly onto the stampers, only a limited number of records could be made from each stamper to ensure quality.  Once the number was achieved, the stampers were tossed.  No further copies could ever be made of this quality (Occasionally, a master tape off a board would be made for further copies, but records made from a master tape do not have the detail or immediacy of those made directly from the directly recorded stampers.).

The labels are clean, as you can see.  No spindle wear nor spindle marks are evident.  The vinyl is flawless.  The record definitely grades Near Mint.  The cover is intact, but there is a bit of minor abrasion on the edges, but the cover is tight.  There is one obvious flaw to the cover and it’s a scratch (which you can see in one of the photos) about 3 inches long.  If it weren’t for the scratch, the cover would grade as VG++ (Goldmine), but with the scratch, I grade the cover as a strong VG.

I will ship anywhere in the world.  The buyer is responsible for the shipping and insurance charges.  I will stand behind the record description and grading (I am mostly a buyer and listener.).  If it doesn’t meet your standards, please let me know and I’ll try to rectify things.
