Fotheringay – 1971 Japanese vinyl LP – Island SFX-7282
This is just about the rarest of the first album versions – it was issued in Japan on the Island label in 1971, the year after the original UK release. It was pressed by the Nippon Phonogram Company.
It is in at least EX+ condition throughout
The vinyl is clean and bright and shiny and absolutely without any surface scuffs or scratches, only some light ‘storage’ marks from being kept in a plastic liner for 45 years (that I can’t capture on camera) – must be M/NM. It plays brilliantly on my mid-range Pioneer. The labels are EX with only a few of the lightest of spindle marks.
The original ‘half moon’ plastic liner is unmarked.
Lyric sheet is missing.
The outer sleeve is without doubt close to NM. It is not a gatefold. There is only the slightest suggestion of any ring marking which is amazing for unlaminated sleeves of this vintage. The bottom two corners have only the slightest of dinks and the bottom edge has minimal shelf wear. There are light wear marks at the top of the spine and there is a small ‘scratch’ at the top – see photos. The obi is not original.
This is a truly outstanding example of this enormously rare piece of vinyl. Collectors will have to wait a very long time for another opportunity such as this, so don’t miss out.
