THE GAMES OST LP by FRANCIS LAI featuring ELTON JOHN and THE BARBARA MOORE SINGERS. ORIGINAL US PROMO PRESSING LP on VIKING RECORDS (LPS-105).

One of the HOLY GRAILS of soundtrack collecting. ULTRA RARE LP, printed in an INCREDIBLY SMALL RUN of CIRCA 1000 COPIES.

Mainly notable for the song “FROM DENVER TO L.A.”, featuring a YOUNG ELTON JOHN, hired as a session singer. He was actually so UNKNOWN at the time they MISSPELLED HIS NAME ON THE COVER AS “ELTON JOHNS”. The song is GREAT, with a NICE ARRENGEMENT, including a COOL HARPSICHORD GROOVE INTRO and GROOVY ORCHESTRAL WORK. To my knowledge, this song is UNAVAILABLE ELSEWHERE (although there are rumors regarding the existence of a even scarcer 7” single with the song), making this LP THE ULTIMATE COLLECTIBLE FOR ELTON FANS.

But even if you´re not a fan of ELTON JOHN, you will enjoy this album: it´s actually one of Francis LAI´s FINEST WORKS. GREAT THEMES and MOODS TROUGHOUT THE WHOLE RECORD, including NICE JERK SOUND with NICE FUNK VEINS, BREEZY FRENCH SCAT numbers, reminiscent of JANKO NILOVIC´s VOCAL LIBRARY WORK, with BARBARA MOORE (of UK DE WOLFE LIBRARY FAME) and KILLER ORCHESTRAL DRAMA GROOVES (i.e., the last track “MARATHON SUITE” sounds like a 7-minute plus collage of MAD FRANCOIS DE ROUBAIX-style DRAMA LOOPS, one after another). SOUNDTRACK COLLECTORS, BEATHEADS, MIXTAPE MAKERS AND PRODUCERS will flip over the grooves in this LP. Check out the LONG SOUNDCLIP below (NOTE: I made the soundclip from the copy being auctioned). VERY RARE SOUNDTRACK LP.

Vinyl is in VG+ condition (light hairlines and a couple of marks. I played this record in its entirety and it played nicely with occasional light surface noise and very occasional clicks. Check soundclip). Sleeve is in VG condition (top seam has a 1.5-inch split and bottom seam has a larger, 7-inch split. Moderate wear and a small sticker on the top left front corner. There´s a “DJ copy” stamp on the back – as far as I know, all copies have this. Very presentable condition. Check picture).
