This album set is the 1929 electrical recording of César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major, performed by the legendary duo of Jacques Thibaud (violin) and Alfred Cortot (piano). Recorded on May 28, 1929, at Salle Chopin, Paris, this set is widely considered one of the greatest instrumental recordings of the 20th century.

Condition: Album: This 97 year old original green HMV binder is in good condition for its age. There are some signs of wear, particularly on the back and spine of the album.
Shellac records: All four discs retain a high gloss.
Analytical notes: Tipped-in notes are fully intact with no tears on hinge. Some foxing is evident.
Sleeves: The records are housed in their original heavy blue/green cardboard sleeves which are securely bound into the album.
Labels: Clean and legible with minimal spindle wear.
While I have not played these records, they have been in safe indoor storage for many decades. That said, I cannot guarantee that all discs play perfectly. Please examine the photos, they form part of the description.
