Jacket :    VG+   

Light cardboard slightly laminated cover, in VG+ condition, with both perfect flipbacks, seams and spine fairly sharp ; very light ring wear on the back with slight discoloration. On the front, four little pentel strokes in green colour (see photo below)

Vinyl :   VG+/VG  

The vinyl looks played with care, with some signs of use and a few rubs, mostly on side B, producing a light and minimal surface noise, but absolutely not interfering with the music, sounding clear, with no distortion.

Catalogue/Label :

EP MEGAPHON 58 positively 1st and only original Italian pressing. Labels are clean with minimal design (typical of a promotional production) and bear no sign of wear or deterioration. Please, look at my label scans

The artcover, with a drawing by the famous NISO RAMPONI (signed "Niso"), fits in the tradition of the most important Italian graphic illustrators between the late 50s and early 60 (such as Crepax, Polillo, etc..), in turn inspired by the work of David Stone Martin.

As a cartoonist, in the '60s Niso Ramponi worked for a long time with Sandro Lodolo (specifically from 1959 to 1968, and continued in subsequent decades as a free-lance), at a large number of Carosello Rai. He worked for RAI broadcasts and commercials, including that famous Rischiatutto, the Cocco Bill animations of the famous Jacovitti and several commercials for Marga, Algida, Nestle, Indesit, etc. Must be also remembered the advertising with Carapelli with the real  Gibba that "paints" the little man animated by Nisus ("a cracking character). Niso also worked at the head titles for several films including the episodic film directed by Pietrangeli, Bolognini, Salce and Monicelli, Le Fate (1965).

Come cartoonist, negli Anni ’60 Niso Ramponi lavorò per molto tempo con Sandro Lodolo (precisamente dal 1959 al 1968, continuando nei decenni successivi come free-lance), a tantissimi Caroselli e sigle Rai, fra le quali, quella famosissima di Rischiatutto; le animazioni di Cocco Bill del famoso Jacovitti; diverse pubblicità per la Marga, Algida, Nestlé, Indesit, ecc; inoltre, sono da ricordare: la pubblicità Carapelli con Gibba (dal vero) che “disegna” l’omino animato da Niso (“un personaggio bomba”); i titoli di testa per diversi lungometraggi dal vero fra i quali il film a episodi diretto da Pietrangeli, Bolognini, Salce e Monicelli, Le Fate (1965); la serie per l’Olanda di spot ecologici del simpatico canguro Dusty; nonché diversi Caroselli realizzati da Lodolo e Ramponi animando i disegni di Pino Pascali, riscoperti e valorizzati qualche anno fa da Marco Giusti.

GRADING CODE

Grading is VISUAL, under a bright light. 

        NM  (Near Mint): Record has been opened, and probably played, but is in impeccable condition. I do not use "mint".

EX   (Excellent): Has signs of use or storage, but still considered top collection quality. Jackets may display some very light wear; vinyl may have a few light sleeve marks only visible in the highest light. Sound will full and clear, with little if any noise (NOTE, some records are just pressed poorly).

VG+ (Very Good Plus): Still a great copy but has a bit more wear. Vinyl may have some light scuffs or scratches, but nothing deep. Jacket may have some ringwear or seamwear. Sound should be great, with minimal if any noise.

VG  Very Good): A great play copy but clearly used. Vinyl will display many hairline scuffs or scratches, but will play with a tolerable amount of noise. Jacket may have splits and wear but will not be falling apart.

VG-(Very Good Minus): A used or worn copy, that has not been taken good care of. Vinyl will have many scuffs or scratches, but play through enjoyably despite audible background noise. Covers will have tears, splits, writing, or other issues. 

 G  Fair, Poor: A very rough copy. Will play through without skipping unless otherwise noted, although records of this grade are sold AS-IS.
