Clean 1953 Pressing - Capitol of Canada 10" EP H488
Songs for Young Lovers (Capitol H-488) is Frank Sinatra’s first full Capitol LP, a beautifully crafted set of eight standards showcasing his evolving romantic vocal style, enriched by the early collaboration with Nelson Riddle and guided by a sophisticated yet intimate orchestral approach. At this point in his career Sinatra had just signed with Capitol after a slump in the early 1950s. The confident, intimate vocal delivery here reflects his renewed artistic energy — partly influenced by his Academy Award-winning turn in From Here to Eternity and his work in Las Vegas nightclubs.
Most tracks were arranged by George Siravo, a key figure in shaping Sinatra’s post-Columbia style. Nelson Riddle arranged Like Someone in Love and conducted the orchestra — the start of a legendary, decades-long collaboration that would define Sinatra’s sound. The small orchestra blends tasteful jazz elements with lush, lyrical backing, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere that complements Sinatra’s phrasing and storytelling.
This album’s concept — grouping standards around a unified mood — prefigured Sinatra’s later “concept albums”, including In the Wee Small Hours and Songs for Swingin’ Lovers!

Like all the albums I offer, this one has been PLAY TESTED and found to be in overall excellent condition, devoid of any scratches or skips, but a small amount of surface noise from previously plays on less than optimal stereo equipment. It played through on both sides with no skip at all. The purple label is clean with no spiderwebbing to the spindle-hole. The outer jacket is JUST beginning to split at the opening. I added a rice-paper inner and I've put the album in a mylar outer sleeve for protection. The records will be shipped outside of the jacket, but inside the mylar outer to protect the jacket from any further splitting. It can be easily repaired neatly with tape if so desired. I hate to part with it, but my collection is just too big and I need to start winding down. (see below)
Needless to say, everyone's system is different. That said, I cannot account for what you will experience during playback, but on MY system, it played exactly as described above. It is sold as-is.
