FRANK WILSON TMG 1170 - "DO I LOVE YOU INDEED I DO - SWEETER AS THE DAYS GO" BY EMI FIRST ISSUE. it's taken a long time to make up my mind to sell this Northern Soul Classic but finally here it is. This record is 40 years old and looks good. I have photographed the vinyl, the labels and the sleeves please study the photographs. My copy has always been in a sage green sleeve but you have the option of the orange sleeve because I've included both. Vinyl looks excellent but I'm saying good because we all have different ways to classify items, cannot see any deep scratches or marks. The labels are in excellent condition no stickers, writing or finger marks. The sleeves like the record are 40 years old so they do have creases and tiny tears at the top. also the orange one has 322 written at the very top. I'm currently waiting to obtain 2 brand new reproduction sleeves 1 of each colour these will be sent with the record. Study the photo's carefully before bidding. If this record sells it will be posted first class special delivery signed on receipt for security and proof of receipt. This is not The Holy Grail regarding the UK marketed issues of TMG 1170, it is just a brief insight into one of the finest Northern Soul dance tracks of all time.
Approximately 250 demo 45s of the song were pressed in 1965 and scheduled for release on 23 December 1965. Owing to a combination of Wilson deciding that he would rather focus on producing and Motown's Berry Gordy's lukewarm reception of the vocals and a wish to prevent his producers from having a successful recording career, the demos were destroyed. At least two, and maybe as many as five, copies survived, one of which fetched £25,742 in May 2009. One is rumoured to be owned by Berry Gordy himself. Due to its scarcity it remains one of the most collectable discs especially by followers of Northern soul, owing to the demand caused by it being played at the famous Northern Soul nightclub, Wigan Casino. It was first officially released by EMI in the UK as a demo in 1979 on the Tamla-Motown label and because of demand it stayed on catalogue. The EMI copy has push out centre and the track time underneath the song title. When RCA took over the distribution in January 1982 it transferred over, along with everything else that was on the UK Motown catalogue at that time. It was never re-released which is why there is no RCA demos copies. The first RCA presses 82/83 have push out centres, but the track time is behind the song title, 2nd RCA presses had a solid centre, 3rd presses had solid centre and a different type face is used compared to the other versions.
