Even as Zappa was getting a leg up on his peers with 16-track, 2-channel stereo recording, he was also branching out and recording in 4-channel quad. Quadraphonic LPs were a short-lived phenomenon, and only two of Zappa’s albums, “Apostrophe” (’) and “Over-Nite Sensation,” were released as quad versions. However, it was Zappa’s intention to release all his subsequent albums in both 2- and 4-channel discs. In 1973, the year “Apostrophe” (‘) and “Over-Nite Sensation” were both issued, Zappa co-founded DiscReet Records. The name was a play on the word “discrete,” which described one method for encoding quadraphonic sound onto LPs. Two follow-up albums — “Roxy & Elsewhere” and “One Size Fits All” — were each pre-advertised for quad release but only 2-channel versions were ever offered. Zappa’s fascination with quad sound even carried over into his lyrics. One of his most famous lines comes from Over-Nite’s “Camarillo Brillo,” where Zappa sings, “She said her stereo was four-way/And I’d just love it in her room.”
ATTN US BUYERS: REGARDING SHIPPING. I am shipping from Hawaii. I stopped offering media mail on packages under 1 lb. because the eBay, Paypal, and USPS estimated time for delivery is incorrect on all my listings: it ignores a sea journey and I don't want to mislead customers. With the new rates I can ship 1st Class (3-5 days) for about the same cost as media mail. Shipping time for media mail from Hawaii can be 3-5 weeks. Packages over 1 lb. have to ship either media mail or Priority Mail (most single LPs are under 1 lb except gatefold and heavy vinyl).

SS - New, still sealed
NM - Like New, no visible signs of wear, no spindle marks.
EX - Almost like new, may have very light spindle marks or very minor scuffs. Cover may have very light ringwear or minor dings.
VG - Not bad, may have light scratches or marks on cover.

SHIPPING INFO All LPs wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in cardboard record mailer. Shipping cost calculated by weight at exact USPS rate plus $2.00 for packing materials, etc.
Attn. US Customers I offer media mail and priority mail for packages over 16 ounces or 1st Class Mail if under 16oz as shipping options. Please be aware that Media Mail from Hawaii to the mainland can take 3-5 weeks (not 4-11 days as it says in eBay and Paypal's prefilled shipping menu) versus 3-5 days for priority and 1st Class mail.
All US shipments include USPS tracking number. Optional Tracking for International shipments available with Registered Mail* ($13.95 extra) or Priority Mail International, which is expensive - send a message if you require international tracking and I will update the invoice.
Insurance available on request at USPS rate.
Combined Shipping available - charge calculated by weight of the package.
note: the pricing between 1st Class Mail (under 16 Ounces) and Priority Mail (over 16 ounces) are not proportionate so combing a shipment of a single LP to the USA may not save money unless shipped media mail - if you want to purchase more than one single LP contact me for the shipping options.
*Registered Mail takes a bit longer delivery time because the package is hand transferred at each stop along the way.
