Here's an outstanding LP, FRANK ZAPPA'S - OVERNIGHT SENSATION, pressed in 1973. This LP is one of Zappa's best recordings that combine his humor and dirty lyrics with his musical prowess. His band at this moment could be defined as his best ever. The band is outstanding with stars in their own right; Jean Luc Ponty on violin, and George Duke on keys. The entire band is stellar, and for anyone who doesn't own a Zappa LP, this is a great start. For anyone who does own Zappa LP's, but not this one, I ask what are you waiting for. This is an essential LP in any music library, and critical for anyone into Zappa.
This copy is a 1973 STEREO pressing. It's in great condition. The VINYL is super clean NEAR MINT, and plays great. This is the pressing with MS starting off the runouts. and the extra colors inside the gatefold. "MS" prefixed run-out pressings, of US origin, have a noticeable audio difference to "K" prefixed pressings (UK & Euro) which, in comparison, have the left/right channels swapped.
There is also a significant print difference on center spread of gatefolds. One version simply has 'sepia' & black print, the other has a solid brown/yellow color to the background areas.
The Cover is very great too. Close to NEAR MINT. It is colorful and vibrant, but a couple little soft corners or a ding, and very slight ring wear keeps it from NM. I should point out that these LPs weren't big sellers at the time, and now usually found pretty beat. This copy is really nice.
