FOR ONCE THERE IS FULL HISTORY WITH THIS ULTRA RARE ‘PROMOTIONAL’ LP:-  It is very VERY rare indeed to have FULL history of any LP today.  And it is even RARER to know a FULL history of a ‘factory sample’ PROMOTIONAL LP.  Many ‘factory samples’ have had stickers put on them at the later date, are fake printed ones, and even more laughably they are often the wrong ones!!!!  Every different company used different factory sample stickers – and some just didn’t use them at all (like Pye for example) so they are not inter-changeable!!!!  So it is very VERY important indeed to have the FULL history of a ‘Factory Sample’ LP to 100% GUARANTEE it is 100% GENUINE (which I am VERY happy to do in this case!).  The 1 previous owner of this LP worked for the UK’s BIGGEST record shop chain in the 1960s and 1970s namely Woolworths.  And for those outside of the UK who don’t know?  Woolworths literally had a shop in almost EVERY town in the UK in the 1960s, and at one point took up 65% of the UK market share in record sales.  The 1 previous owner of this LP worked in Woolworths head office, in the music department – compiling the charts for the record stores each week, monitoring sales (stock control), and deciding (along with others) which LP was going to be stocked in Woolworths stores in any given week.  And this was a very VERY big deal indeed for any band!!!!  If your LP was stocked by Woolworths in the 1960s and 1970s – it was almost GUARANTEED to sell VERY well indeed.  Whereas if Woolworths decided not to stock your LP, you had to rely on the independent record shops only, and sales would undoubtedly be very poor indeed!!!!  And so almost every record company sent copies of their LPs into Woolworths to promote their LPs, along with what were in many cases ‘begging letters’!  Especially with ‘new’ bands – as it was VERY hard to get Woolworths to stock them.  And even the biggest artists who were guaranteed to be stocked in Woolworths, sent in LPs and letters to try and gain a better shelf space than their competitors.   Clearly after the LPs came in, and decisions were taken 99% of them were thrown away.  And of course, whilst ‘Demos’ were sent to Radio Stations, Woolworths didn’t play their LPs on the radio – and so they were sent ‘Factory Samples’ instead.  According to the 1 previous owner, they were free for ANYONE to take home at any time after they had been evaluated.  After all, clearly there was no use for them at Woolworths head office!!!!  This 1 previous owner amassed a collection of over 600 LPs in his time at Woolworths.  Many were classical and some were mainstream Jazz (neither of which has any interest to me).  However he did have a small selection of 1960s pop, beat, rock, and blues (which will be appearing in the coming weeks) – of which this LP is just one from that collection.  IMPORTANTLY all the stickers are 100% GENUINE in EVERY way, and each record company has the CORRECT sticker.  So you can tell immediately that these ‘Factory Sample’ LPs are 100% CORRECT and 100% GENUINE in EVERY respect!!!!  This is just one 1 LP from this AMAZING collection – so please read on below:-

On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention called "Lumpy Gravy" and is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press Verve label!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!!  THIS IS ONE OF THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION'S RAREST LPs EVER - AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!!  JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!!  BACK IN 1968 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN THE UK - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!!  AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!!   BUT WHAT MAKES THIS LP REALLY SPECIAL IS THAT IT IS 1ST PRESSED IN MEGA RARE STEREO!!!!  AND THIS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ON THIS LP!!!!  WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN THE UK BACK IN EARLY 1968, NEARLY EVERY 1ST PRESSING WAS MADE IN COMMON MONO - WITH VIRTUALLY NONE IN MEGA RARE STEREO AT ALL!!!!  AND DEMAND FOR STEREOs WAS SO TINY, THAT MOST SHOPS DIDNT EVEN STOCK STEREOs AT STANDARD BACK IN EARLY 1968 - AND STEREO 1ST PRESSINGS WERE ONLY AVAILABLE BY 'SPECIAL ORDER' ONLY!!!!  AS A RESULT, FINDING A 1ST PRESSING OF THIS INCREDIBLE LP IN MEGA RARE STEREO IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE - AS BARELY ANY WERE EVER MADE!!!! 

THIS LP ALSO HAS AN ULTRA RARE AND 100% GENUINE 'FACTORY SAMPLE' STICKER ON 1 LABEL - WHICH IS COMPLETELY CORRECT IN EVERY WAY FOR ALL (EMI) VERVE LPs FROM THIS PERIOD, AND CAME FROM THE SAME AMAZING COLLECTION OUTLINED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DESCRIPTION!!!!  AND AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT FROM A 100% GENIUNE 'PROMOTIONAL' FACTORY SAMPLE COPY:- IT IS QUITE LITERALLY THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING EVER MADE - ON THE VERY FIRST DAY OF PRESSING, WAY BEFORE THE RELEASE DATE!!!!  BECAUSE, NOT ONLY DOES THIS RECORD HAVE THE 1ST PRESS 1G/1G STEREO MATRIX ENDINGS, 'SOLD IN THE UK' TEXT ON BOTH LABELS, AND A 'WIDE SPINE' COVER (LATER ONES DONT!) - BUT INCREDIBLY IT HAS THE 'EARLIEST POSSIBLE' 1ST PRESS MOTHER & STAMPER CODINGS ASWELL, BEING 1/G & 1/G!!!!  AND THIS CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THIS WAS QUITE LITERALLY THE 'EARLIEST' UK STEREO 1ST PRESSING EVER MADE - AND ONE OF THE FIRST 300 COPIES EVER PRESSED!!!!  SO THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT AT ALL - THAT THIS IS THE 'EARLIEST' & RAREST 1ST PRESSING OF THIS INCREDIBLE LP, THAT YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET!!!!

NOT ONLY THAT BUT THIS LP IS IN ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT CONDITION  - AND CLEARLY HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!!  JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!  THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1968 UK STEREO 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING ON THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS VERVE LABEL, 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 1G/1G STEREO MATRIXES, 'EARLIEST POSSIBLE' 1ST PRESS 1G/1G MOTHER & STAMPER CODINGS, 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 'SOLD IN THE UK' LABEL TEXT, 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 'PATENTS APPLIED FOR' PLAIN WHITE INNER SLEEVE, AND 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 'GARROD & LOFTHOUSE' LAMINATED FLIPBACK GATEFOLD STEREO 'WIDE SPINE' COVER!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!!  This is the ORIGINAL Verve UK 1st Pressing from 1968 and is in absolutely BRILLIANT condition!!!!  The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl.  The Cat. No is SVLP 9223 on the ORIGINAL 1st Press Verve label (see picture) and is a much MUCH rarer UK STEREO 1st Pressing!!!!

The record labels are in SUPERB condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only a few VERY light spindle marks!!!!  IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THIS RECORD HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!!  The vinyl is in absolutely SUPERB condition!!!!  Most of these 60s LPs had been to a lot of wild parties and are usually found totally worn out, and almost unplayable.  This one is NOT and has NO scratches, NO hairlines, only 1 MEGA light TINY scuffline, and only a VERY few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light!!!!  ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!!!  THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK AND LOOKS SUPERB!!!!  It is also great to find that the record plays as STUNNINGLY as the visual with NO pops, NO sticking, NO jumps, barely ANY crackle AT ALL, and only some VERY low level background sound on the run on grooves & gaps - NOT in the music AT ALL!!!!  The sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO distortion and NO groovewear either!!!!  The record must grade Excellent+ if not better!!!!  SUPERB RECORD!!!!  Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way!!!!  I use STRICT RC grading standards - it is not in my interest not to!!!!  Brillant!!!!  The record comes in its ORIGINAL 1st Press 'Patents Applied For' inner sleeve which is in SUPERB condition!!!!  The ORIGINAL 1st Press 'Garrod & Lofthouse' Laminated Flipback Gatefold STEREO 'Wide Spine' Cover is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  It has NO edge wear, NO spinal wear, only VERY slight corner wear (NOT through the colour), NO splits, only some VERY minor evidence of 'tipping in' to the corner tips, NO rips, NO tears, only a few VERY light creases (cover is VERY flat looking!), VERY shiny laminate, NO annotations, and NO writing!!!!  The opening edges are beautifully straight with barely ANY feathering AT ALL!!!!  Even the unlaminated inside of the cover is in SUPERB condition with NO grubbyness, NO yellowing, barely ANY rubbing AT ALL, and NO writing!!!!  The cover must grade Very Good++++ if not better!!!!  BRILLIANT COVER!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS (ESPECIALLY IN MEGA RARE STEREO - AND AS A 100% GENIUNE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS PROMOTIONAL 'FACTORY SAMPLE' COPY!) - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY!!!!
