The Essential Verve-Era Retrospective: Original 1969 Promotional Pressing with DJ Sticker
Released by Verve in 1969 following the initial dissolution of the Mothers, The **** of The Mothers (often titled The Best of the Mothers) brings together key tracks from Freak Out!, Absolutely Free, and We're Only In It for the Money. This promotional pressing is a vital link in the early Zappa discography, offering early analog stampers and pristine audio transfers.
-
The Provenance: Original media review copy sent directly to the New York Post in 1969 and preserved unplayed for over 55 years.
-
The Promo Marker: Features the original factory red oval "DJ NOT FOR SALE" sticker boldly adhered to the upper right quadrant of the front jacket.
-
Condition & Fidelity: The vinyl is preserved in true New Old Stock / Near Mint condition. High black mirror gloss, zero hairline scuffs, and completely pristine labels.
-
Jacket Preservation: The collage artwork jacket remains structurally rigid and clean, showing only light surface shelf wear along the outer margins consistent with archival storage.
