FRANK ZAPPA Zappéd 1970 Bizarre Promo Only 1st Press 1A/1A Cooper Beefheart NM/EX
Zappéd is a 1970 Bizarre/Straight Records sampler built to showcase the roster Frank Zappa assembled with Herb Cohen, pulling early tracks from Alice Cooper, Captain Beefheart, GTO’s, Tim Buckley, Wild Man Fischer, and more across folk rock, psychedelia, avant-garde, and spoken word. The closing track is Zappa’s own “Willie the Pimp,” with Captain Beefheart on lead vocals.
This is an original US first pressing catalog number PRO 368.
First Lacquer Cuts on both sides - 1A/1A. This is the as close to the studio masters as a copy of this album can get.
From Warner/Reprise’s promotional-only Loss Leaders mail-order series — this compilation was never sold in retail stores, only offered through order forms bound into other Warner/Reprise releases.
The collage-style cover places Zappa alongside GTO’s and other Straight/Bizarre artists beneath the red “ZAPPÉD” title, with palm trees along the bottom edge.
This is the accented “Zappéd” collage-cover variant of PRO 368, pressed at Columbia’s Santa Maria plant (plant code S).
The label is Bizarre’s pale blue design with dark blue arched lettering, distributed by Warner Bros. Seven Arts / Reprise Records
The cover retains its original opened factory shrink wrap.
