"FRANKIE LAINE" - His last MERCURY 45 - THE JALOPY SONG This song, not a hit when it was released in 1951 on MERCURY, is one that many of his older fans remember fondly and seek out. Very hard to find, even more so in this LIKE NEW condition, and still in its original generic MERCURY sleeve. This was Frankie's last pop single before moving to COLUMBIA Records, where he would become one of the great pop vocalists of the 1950's, a stylist like no-one else. (Interesting to note that one of the three writers of the song is EDEN AHBEZ, the man who wrote Nat King Cole's iconic "Nature Boy"). The MERCURY record number is 5581-X45 and as stated above, IN LIKE NEW condition, remarkable for a 60 year old 45RM.
