Year of release is 1962. This is a record that Northern Soul, Popcorn, and Doowop collectors will all enjoy. Freddie Gorman is best known for his smash hit with the Originals (Baby I'm For Real) as well as for having co-written the Marvelettes' Please Mr. Postman and having produced the Reflections' Romeo & Juliet. Slightly earlier in his career he recorded this monster Northern Soul number which has been relegated to relative obscurity except for in Northern Soul circles. The record visually and play grades in beautiful near mint condition. The labels are nice and are glossy white. The record can almost pass for new and unplayed. Unfortunately, there is one problem . . . There is a hairline crack that extends one half inch into the grooves from the record's edge. The crack is quite mild. The record has never been separated; that is, it has remained "snapped into place." Listen to the sound bytes which I have done of each side and hear for yourself. When I purchased the record, I did not realize that the scratch was there. Only upon cleaning it did I discover it. The friend I purchased it from was unaware as well. In fact, when I brought it for him to see, it took us both at least thirty seconds to find it. Nevertheless, I was happy with only half my money back. He wouldn't do any better because the piece was still sensational. Look at it this way, if you are fortunate enough to win it at half of what it should sell for, you will likely be a lot happier than you would be with an ordinary VG copy that would likely be discounted similarly! This is a spectacular Northern Soul record and very difficult to find in this condition even with the minor crack. Don't let this pass you by! There is also some whitening or erasing at the top left center on both labels that appears on the images only, the purpose of which is to avoid the use of language that might annoy those who are concerned about any remote suggestion of copyright infringement. The actual labels do not have this deletion.
