Description

For auction is FREDDIE HUBBARD's "The Body and The Soul," on Impulse A-38, MONO, RVG, GF, Promo, 1963. With Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, Curtis Fuller, others.

SOUND: VG+

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall the playback is outstanding, powerful and crisp. There is a caveat: there are a handful of intermittent ticks beginning at the end of B3, "Skylark," through B4 "I Got it Bad," and again at the end of B5, "Thermo." These do not overwhelm the playback by any means; these cuts remain quite enjoyable. The rest of the record is brilliant, would be NM on its own. As it is, a solid VG+

VINYL: VG

The vinyl grade slipped to "VG" due to a feelable scratch through the B-side cuts I mentioned above. When I first eyeballed the record, I thought it could be fatal, but the record plays through this area with only moderate ticks, really not too bad (and much better than it looks). There is a superficial scuff also on side B, which doesn't affect playback at all. Other than that, the vinyl is brilliant! clean and glossy, with no other mark worth noting. The record plays a notch better than the VG grade.

COVER: VG+/NM-

The gatefold cover is outstanding! The edges are all solid except for the bottom center, record-sleeve side, which has a 2-inch split. Corners look very nice, with only minor average wear on the lower left. Front and back laminated covers are beautiful, as is the inner gatefold. All are clean and unmarked, with only the most minimal sign of aging/wear.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

A wonderful record, that plays solid VG+. The gatefold cover is outstanding! No reserve, bidding starts at $20.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
