When people think of heavy progressive blues-rock, Led Zeppelin are often cited as originators. Yet this record saw release in Britain ahead of the ex Yardbirds guitarists' 'Led Zeppelin I'. That's indeed a masterpiece, along with Jeff Beck's 'Truth'. These albums were influenced by the British version of American blues music as presented by such as John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
Listening to 'Tons Of Sobs' we might overlook the impact these young lads were forging in the later sixties.
The Beatles issued 'The White Album' and the hippy movement was fascinated with peace and love in San Francisco - this was something else entirely, and they were not jumping on any bandwagon.
It's a brilliant record, and of course pre-dates the chart success FREE were to have subsequently.
The Vinyl is a solid UK heavy quality pressing.
CONDITION;
The UK pressing is VG+ overall, pressing 'shadow' visible, some crackle on the first track, no deep scratches and not covered in scuff either. Not for MINT collectors but as a player it's great, jumping loud from the grooves
Labels are in clean VG+ condition, matt pink, no stickers or tears. Tiny initial on one side.
The GATEFOLD COVER is VG to +, not super shape, obviously seen some handling, understandably
