FIRST PRESSING

A 1968 UK ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE from the brilliant Blues-Rock lads FREE.

This LP was a special landmark in progressive blues rock, heavier and more original in style than practically any other band of the time - as most derived from and indeed covered the US original blues artists - famously visiting Europe in package tours that inspired brilliant bands like The Bluesbreakers, Ten Years After, Savoy Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Groundhogs, The Yardbirds and Rolling Stones of course.

However there then came a progressive rock form that was spearheaded by Led Zeppelin and Free - the latter here being the more original of all!

On the Island lable and produced by Guy Stevens, this great record was groundbreaking and mindblowing! However apart from those enthusiasts attending live gigs, they weren't to gain mass attention until a couple of years later, with 'Alright Now' hitting the big-time on both sides of the Atlantic. Thrust at rocket force into the public consciousness, they stayed true to their hardrock origin, and performed their great tracks live like Woman, I'm A Mover, The Hunter, Mr Big ....and  were amazing to see. Sadly enigmatic guitarist Paul Kossoff (son of a famed tv minister) died from an eventual drug overdose, and the band were finished.

Paul Rodgers has been celebrated as one of the best vocal talents of all time, he continued with Simon Kirke in Bad Company and has sung with The Firm and Queen. The late Andy Fraser formed Sharks.

Here's the debut album from the fledgling young band - and on the first lable issue.
