A very very special auction indeed as this contains the official publicity photo as talked about by Chris Stewart in an interview on "The Changing Room" where they all had to dress up in black and white clothes, who was of course a very short lived member (drums). The photo was take by the famous celebrity and nude photographer Philip Gotlop and was only ever sent with a dozen of the first LP's to a few famous DJ's. This official photo is the genuine article, NOT A COPY!!!, and has two punch holes near the top. It came with this album and for that reason the auction is for the whole package. On the photo we see from l. to r. Anthony Phillips, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel and Chris Stewart, the very first line up.

Only 649 were ever sold!! Only the mono version is a rarer Genesis item. An impossible LP to ever find with just a reported 350 copies ever sold. I have seen one copy change hands for £2,700!!

This hardly ever turns up. This is the very first issue of the first Genesis album that was mistakenly put in the religious section of many record shops and thus went unnoticed!!!! Finding one is nearly impossible. An all original package with the original sleeve WITH STEREO/MONO PEEP HOLE also both Mono and Stereo cat. numbers on the sleeve. The insert is also an ORIGINAL with both Mono and Stereo cat numbers printed. Beware that most copies offered have this insert replaced by a later re-issued one. This is the genuine article with the most stunning vinyl you could ever come across for this album.

 Vinyl: EX. Many sellers will grade this higher. This has barely been played. Only a couple of minute wispiest paper retraction traces to be detected  under an intense light!! NO hairlines, NO marks etc. A great fantastic sheen and this looks as if just bought new.  ASTONISHING!!!! Only the second I have ever seen, this is just mega rare. This is the proper ultra heavy early DECCA vinyl that feels so solid in your hands. 

    I have played this album in FULL> it plays absolutely faultless, NO skips, NO jumps, NO pops and ... NO crackle!!!! The audio is breathtakingly sublime!!!! Only some static between tracks, very minimal!! Any vinyl always has this. This album in this fantastic condition rarely ever comes up for sale and in my opinion it will be IMPOSSIBLE to better this. As such it is the ultimate KEEPER/VAULT copy and a mighty great investment!!! Most of these are now safely tucked away in major prog/psych collections around the world, this is a very rare opportunity to acquire this glorious album.

Sleeve: VG+.  Front laminated. ABSOLUTELY MINIMAL SCUFFING ON THE EDGES!!! Just a couple of  thumb creases on the opening and bottom corner.  NO splits and no tears. Light wear. A few tiny colour fills to the rear bottom. This has the correct "peep" hole for mono (red) or stereo (blue). The lyrics inner is present as well and in EX++ condition , this is the original sheet and impossible to find as a first print having both mono and stereo catalogue numbers. Barely any creases though and that is quite exceptional in itself. NO writing, NO tears. This has the original earliest Decca poly lined inner sleeve with blue printing. This inner is again fully intact and without  splits and has a small name to the top. 

Photo: Rarer even than the LP itself. This photo was only sent to a few select DJ's, it is a famous photo and there are plenty copies but this is the original company stock photo as first made in Kensington taken and printed by Philip Gotlop.

 Most of these albums are now included in major prog collections around the world!!! Just have a look at the pictures, this is unheard of for this more than 40 year old album!!!

This beautiful glossy slab of vinyl is pure quality!!!!! The vinyl looks fantastic and I played it all the way through, it sounds STUNNING !!!! Re-issues do just not measure up to the depth of the sound. This is just awesome!!! NO jumps, NO pops and NO skips. NO background crackle!!!! This album is playgraded on a Linn Sondek/ Rotel/ B&W set-up. The audio is simply MINDBLOWING!!!!

Getting hold of these in any condition will be a very tall task. Finding it like this in great condition so much harder even.

 In my opinion it will be extremely hard to find an equally great copy as this one!!!!THIS IS A REAL ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY. ONCE IT'S GONE, IT'S GONE!!
