Description

IMPORTANT! If you buy multiple items from me, or if the final price is over $250, PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE!

WAYMOND HALL 'What Will tomorrow Bring' on JAMAL 1005 b/w 'Soul Funk-Tion' by the APOLLOS on JAMAL 1006

Rare Northern California out of Stockton, great driving funk work by the Apollos on Northern topside. Flip is a Funk killer instrumental!

CONDITION: I always give three, don't know which is most important to you! PLEASE READ MY GRADING BELOW- It is specific and slightly non-standard, because I consider Goldmine too permissive.

LABEL: 7(Vg+) very slight wear rings, a bit of dirt, both sides, see pics

PLASTIC: styrene is 5(Vg-) due to loss of gloss and many light scratches on the topside, PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK MY GRADING- 5 or Vg- does NOT mean 'totally trashed' - it means HALFWAY BETWEEN perfect (10) and totally trashed (1)

SOUND: 6(Vg) has quite a bit of distortion due to improperly tracking needle making styrene groove burn, especially on 'Tomorrow'- although this is a mono record, I have left the recording in stereo so you will have NO surprises. it WILL sound better if you have a mono switch on your equipment- that's a promise

SLEEVE: generic

THE DETAILS:

BUYING ON EBAY IS OK, BUT TOO MANY SELLERS GRADE ON THE 'WISH' SCALE- As in, it would be worth more if I graded it at what I 'wish' the grade was!

This 'wish grading' causes no end of trouble for a buyer, especially when there's been serious bidding. I've bought lots of rare records on eBay, only to be terribly disappointed when I get them. AARGH! What to do? Ask the seller for a discount? Send it back?

So, my pledge to you is I will try to grade each record to the exact same standard, whether it's a rare, in-demand item or a common one...

Payment OR ARRANGEMENTS (email me at: rdmdog@q.com) MUST BE MADE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE, PLEASE

Yes, I do combine shippiing: from same auction, add'l 45's are $0.50 each, USA & Canada, $1.00, rest of world

Soundfiles: All soundfiles are from the record being auctioned, and were produced using a Shure V15IV cartridge on a Dual CS-5000 turntable.

>>>>>VERY IMPORTANT!<<<<<

Mono records before the late 60's were not cut to be played on Stereos!

IF THE SOURCE IS A MONO RECORD, WHAT YOU WILL HEAR IS IN MONO

(left channel is identical to right channel)

If you are one of those poor souls who has no mono/stereo switch on your receiver, the record is going to sound worse, maybe MUCH worse, on your system! For a simple solution, just email me and I can tell you how to make ALL your mono records sound MUCH better! Of course, if you are fortunate enough to have an actual MONO cartridge, the record will sound even better on your system…

ALL ITEMS ARE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE ORIGINAL AND GUARANTEED UNLESS CLEARLY STATED OTHERWISE

EVERY SELLER OCCASIONALLY MAKES MISTAKES!!! If you purchase a record from me and you feel my description or grading is NOT accurate, please contact me a.s.a.p. so we can work out a return, adjustment or other solution to the problem! Please refer to my grading explanation below- I do NOT use Goldmine as it is too permissive….

I USE A 10-POINT SCALE. THIS MEANS A GRADE OF 5(vg-) IS HALFWAY BETWEEN THE BEST POSSIBLE CONDITON A RECORD OR COVER COULD BE IN AND THE WORST POSSIBLE. IT IS NOT TRASHED, UNLIKE WITH MANY WELL-KNOWN SELLERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT BE AFRAID TO BID ON A RECORD I HAVE GRADED 5(VG-). I WILL ALMOST ALWAYS SUPPLY GRADING DETAILS FOR THE LABEL APPEARANCE, PLASTIC APPEARANCE, SOUND, AND COVER IF ANY.

I WILL ALWAYS TELL YOU IF IT’S PLASTIC OR STYRENE, IF IT IS OFF-CENTER OR WARPED..

10(M) NO COMPROMISES! PERFECT! LABEL- no wol, not offcenter, vibrant color. PLASTIC- mirror shine, no sleeve scratches, no smudges. SOUND- no distortion no noise. Plays perfect. COVER- Still sealed, or SLEEVE is just perfect. THIS GRADE WILL ONLY VERY RARELY BE USED FOR ANY OF THESE…

9(M-) LABEL- pretty, but might have a small sticker, light wol or minor defect. PLASTIC- all glossy, but might have a smudge or some sleeve scratches. PLAYS- Great! Maybe a click or two at worst. SLEEVE OR COVER- very close to perfect.

8(Vg++ or EX+) LABEL- still nice, and NOT worn, but color might be slightly less vivid than better grades, PLASTIC- A few sleeve marks or a few fine scratches, Good gloss. Could have the slightest of gray in grooves. Or a scuff, if minor. Could have a very minor warp. PLAYS- still sounds great!! But may have a pop or two, or the very beginnings of surface noise in quiet passages… COVER OR SLEEVE- I will rarely use this grade

7(Vg+ or EX) LABEL- still nice! Maybe a bit of a dirt ring, or the BEGINNINGS of sleeve wear. PLASTIC- Maybe a couple of scuffs, or a few more scratches than an 8 would have, or gray in the grooves, still pretty good gloss. PLAYS- Sound is good, may have light clicking, some detail lost or slight noise in quiet passages. COVER, SLEEVE- Most covers and sleeves will be at this grade or worse! Cover will have beginnings of wear, or slight wrinkles, small tears, a nasty COH, OR slight fading. Overall, a decent copy.

UK:EX

6(Vg) LABEL-shows signs of wear, but is readable. Minor tears possible. PLASTIC- Probably lots of sleeve marks, OR several fine scratches, OR one or two more serious scratches, OR scuffs. OR, a record with gray grooves. Will NOT have all these defects, just one or two. May still have gloss PLAYS- Honestly, many otherwise higher graded records will only SOUND vg- there will be surface noise, or more than one or two pops or clicking, too. Still VERY GOOD, ENJOYABLE… the noise or other defects in sound aren’t TOO distracting. COVER, SLEEVE- Cover will have sleeve wear, yellowing, tears, seam splits or other evidence of age and storage. UK: Ex-, Or VG++. Very good, NOT pretty bad

5(Vg-) LABEL- worn or dirty, but probably readable..PLASTIC- Lots of sleeve marks, also some scratches, and/or scuffs. May have all these defects. OR, just has NO gloss, but also no obvious scratches PLAYS- noise, clicking, pops or distortion. Still pretty enjoyable. Less noise than music…SLEEVE, COVER- Well, it’s not so great- all the defects of 6, but more of them. Consult the pic! UK: VG+

4(G). LABEL- probably pretty trashed and fine details may be unreadable. Might have large torn area. PLASTIC- COMPLETELY covered with fine scratches. OR a mix of fine and serious scratches or other defects. The plastic is “good”-OK, but not up to collectible condition. It is NOT trash- but it isn’t VERY GOOD either…. PLAYS- with hiss, crackle or distortion which is distracting, which is as prominent as the music.UK:VG

3(G-) A filler. LABEL- BARELY readable, or has major tears. PLASTIC- LOTS of serious scratches, along with no gloss, It looks bad. Worse than good… You could try playing it, but… PLAYS- Noise is more prominent than the music. It is UNPLEASANT to listen to! BUT- it probably plays through… COVER, OR SLEEVE- Just plain bad- completely split, and/or unreadable, etc. UK: VG- Worse than good, you know?

2(F) LABEL- SERIOUSLY worn. MOSTLY UNREADABLE, with HEAVY tears, perhaps. PLASTIC- Looks AWFUL. PLAYS- FILLER only- not acceptable, proabably skips or sticks, but MAYBE it won’t break your stylus COVER, SLEEVE- what cover?UK: G

1(P) POOR! LABEL- is missing… PLASTIC- BROKEN. BAD. POOR. AWFUL. Looks like somebody played hockey with it! Don’t try to play it, it will rip your stylus right out. PLAYS- no it doesn’t. Don’t try.
