This is such a classic, I almost hate to let it go. Not your typical Trojan release, the tracks on this LP are an odd mix of soul, heavy early reggae, and piercing James Brown-style toasting, that makes for an intense and unique sound. While most of the songs here are based around the typical organ and bass-lines, each one appears to be signaling a new dance craze using melodies written by Duke Reid, Laurel Aitken and Freddie Notes. Since early reggae fans know how scare female lead vocalists were at the time, Rita Alston's track is especially nice to hear. By far the standout track is (ex-Skatellites) Tommy McCook's "Rooster": This is the rooster that never crows! He gets red hot and he grows... and grows!

Sleeve is in incredible shape, still glossy, with no flaws but some slight water damage in the bottom right corner (see photo of back cover). Vinyl is VG condition with a few surface marks, plays with a few light pops and crackling, but otherwise sounds fantastic.
