FURRY LEWIS – Presenting The Country Blues ORIG Blue Horizon LP / S 7-63228 (UK, Stereo, 1969)
Happy to present a very tidy copy of this rare BH album, one of three impeccable Blue Horizon originals I have listed right now. The vinyl of all three is in true connoisseur condition.
Matrices: S7 63228 A1 / S7 63228 B1
The single format, front laminated sleeve is a great example. Fantastically clean laminate, only a few light ‘thumb’ creases to the front, slight (and I mean slight) storage rubbing to the rear, very minor corner dinks (hardly noticeable). NO splits, edge wear, laminate lift/bubbles, writing. Brilliant non-compressed spine, superbly shiny front panel and sharp opening edges. Many would go close to mint, I’ll say a full and true EX (Excellent) hoping to surprise and delight. Tremendous sleeve.
The smooth, ridged labels are lovely – no heavy rubbing, no writing, stickers or residue. Hard to see any spindle evidence either – certainly no lazy spider trails. Lovely pair of these vintage BH labels!
The medium weight vinyl is a dazzler. It is COMPLETELY unmarked. I could not decipher ANY markings on the disc’s surface. So no dust pockets, embedded dirt, scuffs, scrapes, scratches or even ultra-fine hairlines. It maintains maximum shine too and so visually grades a confident M- (Mint Minus). IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO. The audio does reveal fairly frequent light ticks and some clicks which is puzzling in view of the superb good looks of the vinyl. However, there is no crackle, no loud pops, no distortion or loss of clarity. And of course, no sticks/repeats or jumps.

I do not use any more than ONE plus or minus between grades. After all, WHAT ON EARTH DOES VG+++++ MEAN? What is NM+? Or EX---? These are just some of the ridiculous gradings I’ve encountered on eBay. I am very careful using the EX (Excellent) grade. Excellent, by dictionary definition means ‘extremely good’ NOT ‘marked and slightly beat up with wear’!
