Fantasy- Paint a Picture/ Polydor#2383-246 c.1973 England

Oh, to be in Great Britain in this day! The burgeoning scene here was IRRESistABLE, and nary to soon to repeat, the "next wave" British invasion of the rock era now more innovative than ever with E.L.P. at or nearing their (in this sellers' opinion) musical zenith with Trilogy out now as a culmination of what would be among THE MOST amazing stories in 20th century music, regardless of genre and time!

Yes, Genesis, E.L.O, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Moody Blues, Tull, etc,.. all had amazing successes and a newish small record label had a list of a dozen or so "starving artists" in an incubative state with more talent than one could imagine,with a couple of stores, and a lick and a prayer, would take center stage(and FINALLY sign the Stones,wow almost forgot them, 1st wave, I guess..:) & in a couple of decades have revenues on par with a decent-sized 3rd world country! All Hail!

Fantasy was a young group that represented the "bubbling-under" the bigs, and I would imagine had a "cultish" regional following, but I can't seem to find much on them. I like the music a lot, it is really great vocals over sparse (and distinctive) arrangements with the low-key organ (lots of Diapson, and Flute presets), along with nice guitar work "painting" the background in a mostly mellow mood. There is no "Knife" or "Bitches' Crystal", here. Maybe that is why they remained fairly unknown, without an uptempo "touchstone" song.

This is more of a "Garden Party" type group and I doubt they had "moshing" or played very many "raves", either. The tunes are very beautiful, and much like the title, really do "Paint" a picture using tons of modal, pianissimo passages including lots of early"Genesis" type stylizing sans the "Death of the Universe" stuff.

If you can imagine early Genesis with (a reserved) Peter Hammill on lead vocals, with dynamite harmonies, you pretty much got it, very natural sound, as well..

Vinyl=EX

Just wanted to add: For those of you affected by the recent bombings in London, we here in America are highly sympathetic, and wish you a hearty and quick recovery, you have our prayers, God bless and keep you safe!
