Description

 ~~~~~~~ This is a a unique item I discovered at an estate sale here in San Francisco recently. The original owner was an independent record and song publicist in the 1950's. It is a copy of the KENNETH REXROTH / LAWRENCE FERLINGHETTI LP  "POETRY READINGS In The CELLAR" with the Cellar Jazz Quartet. FANTASY 7002 High Fidelity Spoken Word Series.
THis is the original 1957 deep groove Red Wax pressing with the insert. Cover and vinyl in NM condition.
 Now, this alone would be of interest as it is a relatively scarce Beat Generation / Beatnik item to find in such good condition, but what I found inside is truly VERY RARE AND POSSIBLY ONE OF A KIND!
       Inside the record jacket I found a set of twelve 8 x 10 glossy publicity photos that document the recording process and the readings themselves. 11 of these photos are unique and one is a duplicate. A few of the photos have type written notes on the back. In researching these photos I could find out very little and haven't seen any of these reproduced elsewhere. I know in several photos there are Max and Sol Weiss who founded and ran Fantasy records and in one photo there is someone who resembles Neal Cassady.
       I should think this collection should be of great interest to the collector of 1950's counter culture or a scholar. It reall should reside in an archive of some kind.
