Fields Of The Nephilim ? "The Nephilim" Situation Two ?SITU 22 UK 1st press. Vinyl, LP, issued in a gate-fold sleeve with lyrics to "The Watchman" and "Last Exit For the Lost". The vinyl is housed in a printed inner sleeve with the Nephilim logo.
The vinyl appears to have been lightly played and is in great condition. It plays through beautifully on my elderly stereo - no hop, stick or jump. The LP is housed in a printed inner sleeve which shows minimal signs of wear and is in great shape - no rips or writing. The gate-fold sleeve also shows minimal signs of use and is also in terrific condition - again, with no rips or writing. The spine is intact and legible. Fields of the Nephilim are an English gothic rock band formed in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England in 1984. The band's name refers to a Biblical race of giants or angel-human hybrids, known as the Nephilim. Although the band have not received substantial mainstream success, their seminal sound has proved highly influential, especially in the genre of gothic rock.
"The Nephilim", the second studio album by Fields of the Nephilim, was released in September 1988 by Situation Two/Beggars Banquet Records. The record debuted at number 12 in the UK album charts.
The album was recorded in The Justice Rooms, a former courthouse in England’s Somerset countryside where defendants who were sentenced to death were hanged on site. “The place had a really cool vibe,” recalls bassist Tony Pettitt.
"The Nephilim’s" opening track, “Endemoniada," shares its name with a 1968 Mexican horror film, and features a man growling “penitentziagitae!,” sampled from Ron Perlman's hunchback character, Salvatore, in The Name of the Rose. The album's top-charting single, "Moonchild," shares its name with Aleister Crowley's novel, while "Love Under Will" is a phrase for Crowley's Book of the Law. The lyrics for "The Watchman" and "Last Exit for the Lost" reference H. P. Lovecraft's character Cthulhu.
