Description
THE BEATLES ALBUM - ‘REVOLVER’ (1966) FIRST PRESSING (CONTAINING RARE LATER WITHDRAWN TRACK MIX (‘REMIX 11’) & DR ROBERTS TITLE) - NB ISSUES; PLEASE SEE BELOW...
- this is a rare first pressing of The Beatles’ album ‘Revolver’ from 1966
- in mono sound, with original cover and sleeve, and yellow/black Parlophone labels
- cat no: PMC 7009
- matrix no's: XEX-605-2; XEX-606-1 (NB according to Discogs this indicates a first pressing on both sides, ie this is one of the first of these albums to be produced and is therefore very collectible)
- all the more collectible because this first pressing has a soon-after withdrawn version of Tomorrow Never Knows (known as Remix 11) which some consider to be better than the later released version (track 7 side 2). It also has the first version title of ‘Dr. Roberts’ (track 4 side 2) - changed to Doctor Roberts on later editions
- matrix signatures appear to be: VV (Side 1); RO (side 2)
- vinyl condition (visual inspection only): quite poor with lots of fine, short scratches/marks (and a few a little longer/deeper) on both sides; this was obviously a well played album! Untested and I cannot be sure that it plays correctly throughout (I would say unlikely). Would also benefit from careful cleaning to remove finger prints etc. Side 2 has a partially removed sticker on the label, over the Parlophone logo - see photos
- inner sleeve condition: very good and I believe this to be the original plain sleeve(?). Slight crumpling only. Reverse text says ‘Patents applied for’ and ‘Made in Great Britain’
- cover condition: the original cover; has a number of scuffs and creases as you would expect from a well-played album of this age. Cover design still looks good; striking design. Some wear to the opening edges. Previous owner has written his/her surname (Dulley) in black pen on the reverse side in the black section - only really visible at an angle; there are also some light marks over Ringo’s face - again only visible at an angle. Some sticker residue/tear on top right corner of reverse - see photos. Structurally sound cover.
- a piece of social/music history - unfortunately not pristine but certainly authentic which will appeal to some, but not all, collectors
- no refunds for problems with playback; this is sold on the basis that playback is likely to be interrupted at some point by the marks previously detailed.
This will be sent in a high quality, protective cardboard mailer, for safe transit.
