Description
This is the first attempt at selling to the public a long playing record at 33 1/3 RPM that lasted for 15 minutes per side and all on a ten inch record. Edison also tried at a different speed (80RPM) in 1926. It wasn't a success.
This record was introduced on Sept 1931. It lasted only two years. The public wasn't ready so these examples are difficult to locate.They called it a "Transcription" even though it was meant for home use.
This record from my collection is in great condition. The Music on both sides is from "The Mikado" and is clear with a very slight "Victor" background noise. The singing is from "The Civic Light Opera Company."
There is a tiny chip on the margin at 5:00 O'clock which doesn't interfere at all with the music. (see Picture.) Also new is the composition of the record which also didn't catch on. It's a beautiful label. Here's a chance to buy something unique. Of course it must be played with a light pickup.
