Description
Five Live Yardbirds, UK Columbia MONO, 1N/1N, Clapton
Five Live Yardbirds.
Original issue UK pressed Columbia mono LP, 33SX 1677.Black labels with blue and silver print, 1N/1N matrix suffixes.
Vinyl in fairly clean condition. Marks around the spindle areas suggests plays, but not excessively so. Vinyl surfaces have a fair few light and superficial scuff marks and hairlines, a few of which are more immediately visible, but are free of any very deep marks or scratches which cause extended periods of loud clicks. Surfaces are pretty grimy and dusty, and I have made no attempt to clean the LP up. I should imagine that doing so would greatly improve sound quality.
Playback is on the whole acceptable. There are spots of background crackle, but not continuously so, and mostly at a very low level, although with some instances slightly louder. This is a typical '60's loud cut, and it is mainly in the quieter moments that crackle becomes more noticeable. The odd light tick and pop here and there, but again the majority of these are all at a low level and do not detract significantly from listening pleasure. There are no instances of loud and continuous clicks, bar one instance of four consecutive mid level ticks on side two, and LP can be listened to comfortably throughout without background noise proving annoying, although it is often noticeable.
Labels are clean and without tears, inscriptions or sticker damage.
Sleeve in mostly clean condition. No tears, creases, inscriptions or prominent stains. No stickers or sticker removal marks or tears. Tips have just light wear and are not overly frayed. Spine areas are clean and unsplit with just one or two very small chips here and there. The front has a really good overall appearance. Predominantly white rear has suffered some overall grubbiness and light tan staining, which should be fairly self evident from the picture. Entry side has a touch of feathering, but this has not become pronounced. Backflaps are intact.
Housed in original Emitex inner sleeve, which is in good condition.
All in all an acceptable copy of this LP, without glaring faults, but certainly not mint.
