Excellent condition of three rare vinyl copies of one of Rock and Roll’s
forgotten best bands the Flamin’ Groovies, a seminal garage band that
set the aesthetic groundwork for the Punk scene with their homage to
British invasion pop and American Rock and Roll blues.
The first album offered in this trifecta is actually the bands second LP
the groundbreaking 1970 ‘Flamingo’ with ten terrific songs like, ‘Second Cousin’,
‘Headin’ for the Texas Border’ and ‘Road House’.
The next album is ‘Teenage Head’ the bands third and it was released the
same time and year as the Rolling Stones ‘Sticky Fingers’, and was reported
that Mick Jagger noticed the similarities between the albums and thought the
Flamin’ Groovies did the better take on the theme of classic blues and rock ‘n roll
revisited in a modern context. This LP has nine tracks, including ‘Yesterday’s Numbers’,
‘Teenage Head’ and ‘Evil Hearted Ada’ to name a few.
Finally the third album was the one that got everyone listening, ‘Shake Some Action’
was released in 1976 at the beginnings of the Punk scene and the Groovies
became defacto elder statesmen for the movement, if for no other reason then the
title track “Shake Some Action’ is one of the best rock songs that never got its proper
recognition. Other standouts from this LP are ‘Yes, It’s True’, ‘You Tore Me Down’
and ‘Teenage Confidential’ along with ten other tracks.
