Description

Calling all FLAMING LIPS devotees! Baron Elmo Enterprises proudly directs your attention to this copy of one of their finest records, now long out of print on lp: Transmissions From the Satellite Heart, released in a very small vinyl pressing by Warner Brothers in 1993. This was the first foray the Lips made into the luscious psych-pop vortex from which their massive cult success would later explode, while still revelling in the rocking abandon of their earlier work. Here, their love of lysergic jam coalesces with a batch of amazing songs to clobber your dome like a dayglo anvil dropped from on high. The whole album explodes with incandescent guitar shimmer and abounds in madcap tomfoolery, while managing to toss out enough killer hooks to fill Captain Ahab’s tackle box. Too bad they didn't bring enough drugs to share with the REST of the class… Track listing is as follows: “Turn it On,” “Pilot Can at the Queer of God,” “Oh My Pregnant Head,” “She Don’t Use Jelly,” “Chewin’ the Apple of your Eye,” “Superhumans,” “Be My Head,” “Moth in the Incubator,” “*******,” “When Yer Twenty-Two,” and “Slow-Nerve-Action.” The record itself is pressed on beautiful clear orange vinyl that winks at you like God’s eye… especially under the influence of the, um, appropriate medication. Transmissions From the Satellite Heart is, of course, available on CD, but there’s no way that a mere compact disc could have the shamanic impact of this sacred vinyl object. The cover shows moderate wear, but the slab of orange itself looks great and plays superlatively. A $4.00 shipping charge will be added to the winning total, more for outside the USA. We accept PayPal, for those so inclined. No personal checks, please. Thanks for the visit--hope to hear from you soon!
