-Artist / Group: Fleetwood Mac

-Mini bio: British rock & roll band formed in England in 1967 by Peter Green (guitar; born on Oct. 29, 1946), Mick Fleetwood (drums; born on June 24, 1947), John McVie (bass; born on Nov. 26, 1945) and Jeremy Spencer (guitar; born on July 4, 1948).

-Many lineup changes followed as group headed toward rock superstardom. Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer left in 1970. Christine McVie (keyboards; born on July 12, 1943) joined in August 1970. Bob Welch (guitar; born on July 31, 1946) joined in April 1971, stayed through 1974. Group relocated to California in 1974, whereupon Americans Lindsay Buckingham (guitar; born on Oct. 3, 1949) and Stevie Nicks (vocals; born on May 26, 1948) joined in January 1975. Buckingham left in summer of 1987. Guitarist/vocalists Billy Burnette (son of Dorsey Burnette) and Rick Vito joined in July 1987. Christine McVie and Nicks quit touring with the band at the end of 1990. Vito left in early 1993, Nicks and Burnette left in late 1993. Bekka Bramlett (leader of The Zoo and daughter of Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett) and Dave Mason joined Mick, John and Christine late in 1993.

-The classic lineup of Fleetwood, John & Christine McVie, Buckingham and Nicks reunited in 1997. Christine McVie retired from the group prior to their 2003 album and tour.

-Fleetwood Mac's first three North American singles were Black Magic Woman b/w Long Grey Mare (1968), Stop Messin' Around b/w Need Your Love So Bad (1968) and Albatross b/w Jigsaw Puzzle Blues (1969) all on the Epic label. Albatross b/w Black Magic Woman would be reissued in 1973 on Epic 11029. 

-Fleetwood Mac then released three singles on Reprise Records and these three would be Peter Green's last involvement with the group. Those three singles were Rattlesnake Shake (1969), Oh Well Part 1 & Part 2 (1970) and The Green Manalishi (1970).

-There was a five year gap where the group did not chart in North American, but that all changed in 1975 with release of Over My Head (1975) followed by Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win) (1976) and Say You Love Me (1976).

-1977 started with their biggest hit to date; Go Your Own Way followed by their first #1 hit; Dreams.

-Other Top 20 hits included Don't Stop (1977), You Make Loving Fun (1977), Tusk (1979), Sarah (1979) and Think About Me (1980).

-Fleetwood Mac would have just six more Billboard Top 20 hits between 1982-1987 which were Hold Me (1982), Gypsy (1982), Big Love (1987), Seven Wonders (1987), Little Lies (1987) and Everywhere (1987).

-Group inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1998.

-Albatross written by group guitarist Peter Green is a slow-tempo haunting guitar driven instrumental with amazing licks from Peter Green accompanied with just percolatin bass and light drums with second guitarist Jeremy Spencer doing an excellent job alongside Peter Green.

-Jigsaw Puzzle Blues is a mid-tempo rock instrumetal again with Peter Green's amazing guitar licks ably backed by Jeremy Spencer on strummed guitar, light bass and drums.

-Both cuts taken from the Epic LP "English Rose" (Epic BN 26446) and were poduced by Mike Vernon.

Record grading:

(M) Mint: A mint record should appear to have just left the manufacturers without any handling; that is, it should appear perfect! No light scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains on labels or writing, tears or splits; nothing. Perfect. And age has nothing to do with it; the same standards for Mint apply to a rare rockabilly single from 1955 as they do to a Top 40 record from 1988! There are no sliding values for Mint. A Mint record cover should appear to have never had a record in it; no ring-wear, dog-eared corners, writing, seam-splits; nothing! Perfect! Even a new, unplayed old stock record can have factory flaws. Mint should be used sparingly and will usually attract a premium value to serious collectors. Mint means perfect and nothing else!

(SS) Still sealed: Still sealed in the factory shrink wrap.

(M-) Mint minus: A nearly perfect record. The record will show no obvious signs of wear, very light surface scuffs from normal handling are permitted but no light scratches. Original finish intact. Picture sleeves should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

(VG+) Very good plus: The record will show some signs that it was played or otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or light scratches. Picture sleeves may have some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or a small seam split.

(VG) Very good: Many of the defects found in a VG+ record or sleeve will be more pronounced in a VG record or picture sleeve. Groove wear may be noticeable, the record may have light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound, but the foreign noises will be less prominent than the music. Picture sleeves may have quite prominent ring wear. Creases, folds, seam splits and tears will be more obvious and may appear on all three sides, and there may be writing as well.

(VG-) Very good minus: Foreign noises may be about as prominent as the music. The record still plays through without skipping. The picture sleeve will have more significant seam splits, perhaps to the point where they were taped closed, and highly obvious ring wear and heavier writing. Can serve as a filler until a better one comes along.

(G) Good: We seldom offer a good record for sale unless it is particularily rare for the following reasons: Foreign noises are louder than the recorded music and listening can be distracted by the noise. May or may not play through without skipping, but should be so noted. Picture sleeves are so badly seam split that they may not be able to contain the record within.Tears, folds, writing and ring wear may be overwheming.
