Description

Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On, UK First Pressing, Reprise RSLP 9000, A1 B1!

The time has come for me to trim the fat out of my collection a bit, and I could use a bit of extra cash, so I have decided to get rid of some odds and ends and doubles that I have kicking around.  My loss can be your gain.

Here we have an original UK first pressing of the Fleetwood Mac album Then Play On.  Peter Green's last hurrah with the band (in LP form) and Danny Kirwan's first album with the band.  Jeremy Spencer is still there but you wouldn't know it by looking at the writing credits which Green and Kirwan split evenly.  This album sees the band experimenting more, while still staying rooted in the blues.  Many of the compositions have a airy dreamlike quality, split evenly with rockers like "rattlesnake shake".  This version has two songs that were cut from the US version to make room for the "Oh Well" single, they are two Kirwan compositions "One Sunny Day" at the end of side A and "Without You" on the B side.  As a Kirwan aficionado I feel that is reason enough to have this LP, anyone who is a fan of Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac's later period, or just good quality music in general should have a copy of this LP, so if you are any of those now is your chance.  This copy is not mint, but is a very nice place to start as it is still in very great shape, and won't be needed to be upgraded until you come across a mint one.

Now lets get down to business.

The record is in EX+ condition. It has been played and enjoyed a fair bit by previous owners, but still performs very admirably.  I only spun it a couple of times as it was a back up copy to the one I am keeping.  There is a bit of crackle between the tracks and during the quiet parts, but nothing that distracts.  The First Press of this LP was pressed on VERY thick vinyl and it provides a very rich and rewarding listen, so crank it up!

The labels are EX+.  There is no fading and the text is bright and bold with the Reprise River Boat logo prominently displayed.  There is no spindle wear, the only thing that stops it from being NM is the fact that a previous owner decided to put his initials on the A side label, it is small and doesn't detract from the quality of the labels, but this is just my opinion.  It is visible in the pictures so you can decide for yourself.

The Sleeve is in EX- condition.  It is the original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold issue.  This sleeve is notoriously prone to wear and this copy is no exception. The front cover is in very nice shape, with no fading, rips or writing.  The inside of the gatefold is in fantastic shape with no wear or age spots or other wear that I have seen on other copies of this album.  The back cover does have some storage wear as well as slight ring wear, but it has been my experience with this sleeve and its ease of wear issues that to find a copy with no ring wear on the back one would have to pay a VERY high sum from a collector, or travel back in time and buy one new, I don't know which option would be easier or cheaper!  The spine is the weak link in the condition of this sleeve as it does have a fair bit of wear and a bit of fading from exposure to the sun, but if you can look past it the condition of the rest of the sleeve is Excellent!

Grading: As per Goldmine Standards
-Vinyl: EX+ (play graded, also just had it cleaned on a nitty gritty cleaning machine just to be safe)
-Sleeve: EX+

I have included several pictures that will give an accurate display of the condition of the record being sold, but if you should have any further questions, or would like more pictures, I will be more than happy to assist you.

Shipping:
I will be happy to provide insurance and tracking to the winning bidder, at their expense of course, but I will do my utmost to keep the shipping costs as low as possible.  It is the least I can do since I know how much I hate being overcharged as a buyer!

Any international bidders feel free to contact me about shipping costs before you bid and I will do my best to get back to you in a timely fashion.  Also any potential bidder with a low feedback score please get in touch with me before bidding, as if I feel that you aren't on the up and up I will cancel your bid.

This will be my first of a few records I will be putting up in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled, especially if you are a fan of early fleetwood mac.  I will happily combine shipping if you should win more than one item.

Thanks for looking.
