Phillips, tenor sax on all 8 tracks. 4 tracks with the Phillips-McGhee Boptet also includes Howard McGhee, trumpet ; Hank Jones, piano; Ray Brown, bass; J.C.Heard, drums. 2 tracks also includes Billy Butterfield, trumpet; Benny Green, trombone; Pete Mondello, baritone, alto sax; Midkey Crane, piano; Sam Bruno, bass; Max Roach, drums. 1 track also include John d'Agostino, Buddy Morrow, Tommy Turk, Kai Winding, trombones; Sonny Criss, alto sax; Crane, piano; Brown, bass; Shelly Manne, drums. Cover: VG++ Intact and clean. Cover indicates Mercury Records whick predates CLEF but is the appropriate cover for this issue. Very light overall aging.
Record: VG+ Visually shows only light wear. There are only 1 or2 faint surface rub marks. There is some surface noise throughout Track 1, Side A. Slight surface noise for 1 or 2 revolutions on 1 or 2 or the other tracks on Side A. Side B has only slight groove noise for 1 or 2 revolutions on 1 or 2 tracks. This noise is barely audible. IN gerneral the overall sound quality is better on Side B. In general the record has a fine appearance with the sound details noted. Audibly checked.
