Description

WOW what a rare record, and what a find, she sings a lot like Lee Wiley and Billie Holiday put together. According to what little I could find about her, this is her only session. George Barnes and Carl Kress support her, rhythm on lead jazz guitars, the best stuff I've heard them play. Carnet Records "Quality is Served" LPM 201, some kind of imprint from rare Jamie Records. Wife of Al Cohn, friend of Zoot Sims, according to liner notes of Gene Lees, who knows everybody. Would guess 1960 for this pressing. Songs are all GREAT= COMPROMISE, NO MOON AT ALL, MY HEART STOOD STILL, I HADN'T ANYONE TIL YOU, FINE AND DANDY, LACK-A-DAY, FUNNY WORL, SUNDAY KINHD OF LOVE, WHO CAN I TURN TO, HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON, WAIT WITH ME LOVE, MINE.
