Description

Focus – Moving Waves – 1971 – Second album by progressive Dutch band Focus, spearheaded by guitarist Jan Ackermann and keyboardist/flautist Thijs Van Leer. This is one of the great prog albums of the 70’s. It opens with Hocus Pocus, featuring one of the biggest riffs you’ll ever hear and probably the only rock yodelling you’ll ever want to hear. It goes on to fuse heavy rock, classical guitar and flute, weird scales, mellotrons and syncopated rhythms.  Side two is a 23 minute instrumental with fireworks from start to finish. A largely instrumental album which unusually made the top ten in both the U.S. and the UK. Great album.
