Description
Here is a rare record by Bill Victor, on Fonotone 504. The titles are "Dear Old Dixie" and "Nine Pound Hammer." It is an acetate disk with a metal base, and grades VG+ to EX. There are a few light scuffs, and a small spot of dirt on one side (though it was cleaned). It plays very well, and was not on the Fonotone boxed set.

The Fonotone label was founded by Joe Bussard in the late 1950s, and released the first recordings by such artists as John Fahey, Mike Seeger, Backwards Sam Firk and Max Ochs. He also recorded a wide array of bluegrass artists. All of the releases were on 78 rpm acetate disks through the end of the label, though they did release a few 45s in the late 60s and even a few LP's. Nothing is known about Bill Victor except for these two sides, on which he plays solo acoustic guitar, and sings on the "Nine Pound Hammer" side. After these recordings, he was not heard from again.
