This handsome and exceedingly rare LP from from Mezhdunarodnaya Kniga · MK (D 08379-80, Soviet pressing, blue/silver label, mono) features one of the most elusive titles in the great Pierre Fournier’s distinguished discography, his “live” 1961 Moscow recital with the splendid Russian pianist Naum Walter. Fournier’s impassioned account of Bloch’s Nigun, with his rich tone soaring into the hall, is absolutely unforgettable.

This is exalted playing by any measure, and all those who treasure the art of the cello will find much to savor here, a remarkable concert, all the more so for being captured “live”.

There are liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in Russian only. The striking cover design is similarly uncredited.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor wear at cornes, as well as slight shelfwear and aging, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other faults, and the whole remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and playback is superb, close to NM. If you must have a flawless or NM copy, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
