ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful LP – in a "red stereo" jacket – from Deutsche Grammophon (SLPM 138 755, German pressing, AH tulip label, stereo) features Pierre Fournier's magnificent rendition of Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B minor Op. 104, recorded in the glowing acoustics of Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin-Dahlem from 1-3 June 1962 with George Szell leading the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the classic accounts of this work.

The striking cover photos of Fournier and Szell were taken by Max Jacoby. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Uwe Kraemer – printed in German, English, and French. The jacket carries a publication date of 12/61.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is a small sticker tear to the upper-left corner, as well as corner wear in general, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
