This beautiful and very rare LP from French Columbia (FCX 568, French pressing, blue/silver label, mono – no stereo edition) features composer and pianist Jean Françaix with Les Membres du Quintette a Vent de l’Orchestre National de la Radiodiffusion Françiase in an enchanting account of Mozart’s great Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major K. 452.
Filling out the disc is an equally charming reading of Mozart’s Cassazione in E-flat Major K. Anh. C11 (quartet for oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon).
The wind players throughout are:
Jules Goetgheluck, oboe
Maurice Cliquenois, clarinet
Louis Courtinat, horn
René Plessier, bassoon
Both performances were warmly recorded at the Maison de la Mutualité, Paris on 6 February 1956.
The lovely cover design is credited to Création Publicis. The reverse side of the jacket carries insightful liner notes by Jean Cotté, printed in French only.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the laminated jacket is VERY GOOD-. The only real flaw consists of taping to the upper flipback portion of the jacket. There is also some creasing and edgewear. However, there are no seamsplits, owners marking, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, as well as a few tics in the Cassazione, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
