Capitol DW 581 High Fidelity Duophonic
As one can expect from a Sinatra album, this is a great selection of songs (titles are listed on the cover), accompanied by a full orchestra skillfully arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle. Capitol spent well on fine arranging and Riddle used many sounds--like a choir of flutes (including bass flute) and frequent use of bass clarinet, celeste and harp--smooth but interesting the way the instrumental colors move in and out. Mostly torch songs, some arrangements are more elaborate with instrumental interludes, others just the song wrapped in a nice arrangement. This comes from the era when unionized L.A. studio musicians earned enough to comfortably raise a family...And they were all playing in one room together.
The LP is in excellent condition, clean heavy vinyl, no scratches or warpage. It's a later (post-stereo) issue of a 1955 HiFidelity recording, remastered for stereo. The inner sleeve indicates when it was reissued... the cover is in excellent condition also--just a little scuffing of the ink (see photos). The title info on the spine is easily readable .
