Frank Sinatra ultra-rare unissued live LP with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis 1962

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., Souvenir record from the Latimer Cafe in Philadelphia, recorded August 25, 1962.  The Latimer Cafe was an important club in the careers of both Sinatra and Martin, as they played there often before achieving the world-wide fame they ultimately enjoyed.  After Sinatra became a mega-star, the Latimer named their primary performance room "Sinatrama" in his honor.  In August of 1962, Frank, Dean, and Sammy Davis, Jr. returned to the Latimer for a series of shows, one of which is immortalized on this LP.  The club's owner, Bill Rodstein, recorded the 4 a.m. show and got permission from the boys to have it pressed up and give away copies to his friends and special customers.  Suffice to say it's a wild show, with all three performers having had some drinks beforehand.  In fact, the LP opens with the MC introducing Dean Martin, "direct from the bar."  Each guy sings a few songs, and there's a lot of comedy and banter throughout--again, most of it pretty obviously alcohol-soaked.  It's an amazing period piece and a rare, unpolished and uncensored document of the Rat Pack as they really were in the heyday of their live shows together.

The record never had a proper cover.  Rodstein printed up some 12" x 12" paper graphics that came with the disk for the owner to paste onto a cardboard LP cover--seriously, this is about as basement a production as you will ever see for a record by big stars, at least outside of the world of bootlegs. 

This copy includes the front and back cover slicks, both of which were once glued to a cardboard cover, as evidenced by the dry residue on their backs.  Both slicks are fully intact, with some light soiling to the one with the picture of the little boy, and heavier soiling and tape stains on the one that features a still from Robin and the Seven Hoods.  The LP itself is in beautiful shape--A-side is VG++, with a couple light marks and one 1/2-inch scratch.  B-side is gorgeous M-.   A very rare package and a cool, fun look at the Rat Pack as they really were in their prime.  Valued by Jerry Osborne, of Price Guide fame, at $300-400.

GRADING

M-  A flawless or nearly flawless record that appears to have seen little or no play.

VG++  Superb record, full gloss with a few superficial marks that do not sound.

VG+  Full gloss,  light marks or scuffs, but an attractive record that has seen limited play and has been well cared for.

VG   More marks and scratches, but still a decent record.  Scratches may be fairly numerous, but will be light. 

VG-  Lots of marks and scratches but no gouges or major problems.  Not a beautiful record, but still serviceable, not junk.

G+ and G  Heavy wear and marks, plays through okay.
